- Fall Guys developer recently made some excuses for the lack of Xbox One and Nintendo Switch support.
- The developers made no mention of a PS4 exclusivity deal.
- Mediatonic is cowardly for not mentioning their agreement with Sony.
In a recent interview, the developers behind internet sensation Fall Guys made some claims about their lack of support for other consoles.
Joe Walsh, the game’s lead designer, said:
“Right now, our real focus is on making the PlayStation and PC games as good as they possibly can be, like, we really have to build trust with the community now and make sure they believe that we can support this game and make it really good.” – Joe Walsh, Mediatonic
Walsh’s reasonable language can’t mask these annoying excuses.
Fall Guys’ Developers Made some Weak Excuses
Fall Guys hasn’t been released on other consoles yet because it’s currently exclusive to PS4, as announced back in June of 2019.
This exclusivity deal could last anywhere from a few months to a few years, as is typical of PlayStation. The PlayStation Plus games for august included Fall Guys on its release, which will have untold effects on how long the game is held captive by Sony.
No matter what the developers claim, that exclusivity is the real reason for the game not appearing on other consoles.
You can see Walsh’s comments for yourself in the video below.
Why Didn’t The Developers Mention Exclusivity?
During the discussion about Fall Guys coming to other platforms, the developers didn’t mention exclusivity. The fact that the game was released via PlayStation Plus didn’t come up either.
It makes sense that exclusivity wasn’t discussed, considering the amount of backlash the topic gets on Twitter.
Regardless, the developers should have just been honest about the exclusivity situation. The PlayStation Plus deal is a large part of the reason that the game has been so successful. Mediatonic disrespects their community, and Sony, by not being honest about the game’s exclusivity.
The developers had better hope that Shroud isn’t right and that the game doesn’t die before they can port it.
